When writing about Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival that celebrated the quincentennial of Columbus' landing in the Americas the New York Post used a photo of the cast of "Surreal Soap Opera - Toxic Waste Meets Resortland" Jenneth Webster, producer of the festival, added Toxic Waste Meets Resortland which I took as a sign and kept it as the official title.
Soap Opera Weekly wrote about Surreal Soap's debut and ran the lyrics to the theme song that I wrote with Joe Deihl. The New York Times Sunday Arts and Leisure Guide featured a picture of Marilyn Dobrin who was slated to play Diamond. Due to a medical emergency Janine Hamilton stepped into the role. Marilyn had a chance to play the part when we did a reading of the play at Staten Island's First Ecological Festival.
When "Surreal Soap Opera ..." played at The Village Gate, Malcolm McNeill who directed the weekly soap created a kitschy poster featuring dancer Lynne Pidel and John Maynard who performed their original ballet in innertube at Lincoln Center. Creative Time also featured the duo in a book entitled "Creative Time: 30 years
looking back."
